Lurie Children's Week

Lurie Children's Week

For more than 140 years, Lurie Children’s has remained steadfast in its founding mission: to provide exceptional care for every child, regardless of race, creed, or ability to pay. That mission continues to guide us today, growing stronger through world-class patient care, groundbreaking research, transformative education, and bold advocacy.

Our role in Chicago has never been more vital. As a lifeline for children and families, a hub for innovation, and a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty, Lurie Children’s is deeply woven into the fabric of this city.
That’s why, this week, our community is stepping up — inspired by the care, courage, and commitment they see every day within our walls—to celebrate Lurie Children’s Week.

Lurie Children’s Week is a community-wide celebration of the care and compassion that define our mission. From June 1 – June 9, there will be celebratory events, ways to give back and get involved and moments of joy for our patients, families and staff.

The mayor and the City Council of the City of Chicago issued a proclamation on May 23, 2022, declaring June 9 Lurie Children’s Day, in celebration of the hospital’s 140-year anniversary of transforming children’s health in Chicago and beyond. At the end of Lurie Children's Week, we celebrate this holiday by lighting up the city blue, wearing our Lurie Children's t-shirts proudly and celebrating with our families and staff.
